Where is Short Sand Beach?

Sometimes called “Short Sands Beach” or “Shorty’s,” Short Sand Beach is located inside scenic Oswald West State Park on the north Oregon Coast, about 10 miles south of Cannon Beach, Oregon on Highway 101 (Oregon Coast Highway).

Popular with surfers and hikers, Short Sand is a short walk through old-growth forest, along quiet creeks which empty out into the Pacific Ocean.

Oswald West State Park was originally named “Short Sand Beach” until the park was renamed for the former Governor of Oregon, Oswald West, in the 1950s.

To reach Short Sand Beach from Nehalem and Manzanita, Oregon, drive north for about 4-5 miles on Highway 101.
